Bright new final show

today go to fabirc shopping in Birmingham, didn't expect this super fabric store!

BARRY'S FABRIC SUPERSTORE
For big necklaces, I'd like to combine small enamel elements with fabric.

and also some other big brooches waitting for me to finish the back pin part.

here's some inspiration of my recent pieces

Karesansui gardens

Karesansui gardens (枯山水) or "dry landscape” gardens were influenced mainly by Zen Buddhism and can be found at Zen temples of meditation (Japan Guide). Unlike other traditional gardens, there is no water present in Karesansui gardens. However, there is raked gravel or sand that simulates the feeling of water. The rocks or gravel used are chosen for their artistic shapes, and mosses as well as small shrubs are used to further garnish the Karesansui style (Japanese Lifestyle). All in all, the rocks and moss are used to represent ponds, islands, boats, seas, rivers, and mountains in an abstract way (Japan Guide). - Example: Ryōan-ji, temple in Kyoto, has a garden famous for representing this style. Daisen-in, created in 1513, is also particularly renowned.

Most recent work

inspiration

V&A MUSEUM, LONDON

Through the glass jewelry organic and abstract form to express the irregular and oddity nature, the color of transparent glass express the smallness and fragility of life, blossom and fall presented in the same jewelry, reflecting the traces of the life and its fleeting, to remind people cherishing and reflect on the meaning of life.

so, my most recent work:

and also some glass elements test:

just busy about the Report that we have to hand in next week after that, I'll spend all my effort on the design part.

TIME TABLE FOR FINAL EXHIBITION

2011年6月26日星期日

Day 11

Continue finishing the pin part

Deal with the back of the brooch

l It's nice from the front, but each piece are not highly finished! Completeness are not satisfying!!

Clear the thread of this design project

l One collection one material, one idea

l Not just put every talent i can, but with my deep thought

Rehearsal the presentation

Print the photos

Tomorrow:

Continue the pin part

Finish the small one, try to finish the big ones!

Day 12

Pass!!!

Continue Blog! Good!

Write the next project plan for 2 month, 2 plans for 2 months before final show!

About the work,

Big scale v.s. Small scale

Think how to display the cabinet for final show, different scales different area, how to balance and separate.

Metal work not good, need to find an efficient way (maybe took to Sally??)

Textile element, seek more from China!

More abundant elements

how to rich the big piece without loosing connection with small ones

Jivan: keep creativity

As a jewellery, whether the big brooches will loss of their own function?

Details!

Visual impact is more important than the "story"

But I think the "story" is always the design axis, the fundamental of design can not be lost!

Roger: try different color but do not lose the system of my design.

Small things not only stay as brooches, can be ring?

Or??

Try new colour
